Kia Sorento Maintenance Schedule
This guide lists the service intervals Kia gives for the gas Sorento with the Smartstream G2.5 GDi and turbocharged G2.5 T-GDi engines, from the scheduled maintenance chapter of the 2026 Sorento owner's manual on Kia's owner's manual site, read November 3, 2026. Intervals are by miles or months, whichever comes first. The Sorento Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid and other model years can differ, so check the manual for your vehicle.

What is the Kia Sorento maintenance schedule?
The 2026 Sorento owner's manual lists replacing the engine oil and filter every 8,000 miles (13,000 km) or 12 months, rotating the tires on the same interval, replacing the climate control air filter every 16,000 miles or 24 months, the engine air cleaner filter every 24,000 miles or 36 months and the brake fluid every 48,000 miles or 48 months. Spark plugs are replaced every 96,000 miles on the 2.5 GDi engine and every 48,000 miles on the 2.5 T-GDi. Severe use shortens the oil interval to 5,000 miles or 6 months.

Kia says to check the engine oil level regularly, since it is normal for the engine to consume oil, and never to add additives to the engine oil. For oil grade and capacity, see our Sorento oil type and capacity guide.

Severe usage schedule
The 2026 Sorento manual says to follow its severe usage schedule if any of these conditions apply:
| Item | Severe usage interval |
|---|---|
| Engine oil and filter (both engines) | Replace every 5,000 mi (8,000 km) or 6 months |
| Automatic transmission fluid (2.5 GDi) or dual clutch transmission fluid (2.5 T-GDi) | Replace every 56,000 mi (91,000 km) |
| Rear differential oil and transfer case oil (AWD) | Replace every 72,000 mi (117,000 km) |

| Steering gear, ball joints, brakes, drive shaft, propeller shaft (AWD) | Inspect more frequently |
From the maintenance under severe usage conditions table of the 2026 Sorento owner's manual, read November 3, 2026. Each item applies only under the driving conditions the manual lists for it.
Severe conditions in the manual: repeatedly driving short distances of less than 5 miles (8 km) in normal temperatures, or less than 10 miles (16 km) in freezing temperatures; extensive engine idling or low-speed driving for long distances; driving on rough, dusty, muddy, unpaved, graveled or salt-spread roads; driving in areas that use salt or other corrosive materials, or in very cold weather; driving in heavy dust; driving in heavy traffic; repeated driving on uphill, downhill or mountain roads; towing or camping, or driving with a load on the roof; use as a patrol car, taxi or other commercial vehicle; frequent high-speed driving or rapid acceleration and deceleration; frequent stop-and-go driving. Kia also recommends the severe schedule after 10 years or 100,000 miles (150,000 km). Kia says the Sorento may have an Oil Life Management System that shows an oil life alert early when driving wears the oil faster; reset it at every oil change.
