Severe usage conditions that apply to transmission fluid
For automatic transmission fluid, the 56,000-mile replacement applies to these driving conditions in the 2027 Kia manual:

The manual says to use only specified genuine automatic transmission fluid: a non-specified fluid, even one marked as compatible with genuine, could result in shift quality deterioration and vibrations, and eventually transmission failure.
Is dark transmission fluid a problem?
According to the 2027 Kia manual, automatic transmission fluid color is basically red. As the vehicle is driven, the fluid begins to look darker. That is a normal condition, and it does not mean you should replace the fluid based only on the color change.
